Hi, Jasmine. Hi, Michelle. What shirt are you wearing? Today I'm wearing the same shirt I wore for the first episode, and I wore it to work today, and I got a lot of compliments on it, including from people who don't even like theme parks, and a young person who doesn't even know these movies. So it's my universal opening day shirt, even though Back to the Future I don't think it was their opening day. It was in spirit. It was. It should have been there. I think it literally was there like a year later. So that counts. That counts. Yeah. Like I count rides that open. So there was a lot of rides like at Disneyland that opened the day after it actually opened. I'm like, those count as opening day rides. Yeah. Like, come on, this is a day. Yeah. Um, but yeah, sorry. We're talking about Epic Universe, semicolon, dark universe. Um this is the land I was most excited to come see.

And I was least excited. I was deaf, I was not interested in it at all. But I I went in a hater and I left uh E Lever. No, I was trying to do Believer, but in Igor. Igor Lever. Igor Lever.

Uh so I will be honest. I mostly I was so excited to go to Epic Universe. Like, I bugged you to do this. You were excited to go with me to see this brand new theme park. Um I wish to be like, she keeps saying bugged.

You literally asked me like once. You were like, you should do this. And I said, like, yeah. And then you're like, I hounded her for months. And I'm like, uh, oh, did you? Okay.

Like, I don't remember that. Um, and but mostly like I was excited to see everything, but really I just wanted to see Igor, and I did, spoilers, twice. And then Michelle was like, Oh, you like this character? Okay, but then Michelle fell under his spell as well.

I absolutely did. Yeah, she was send me like TikToks about him, and I'm like, ah. And now, like, literally, we spent two and a half days at Epic Universe, and then two and a half days at another theme park in the greater Orlando area. Not sponsored. And they and the whole time we were at that other theme park, I was like, Miss Igor, wish Igor was here. Can we just do it? Can we just skip this theme park and go back to Epic Universe?

Like the whole time. The the third day we were supposed to do all day at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, we ended up leaving after half a day and just going back to Epic because we missed Igor so much. And we didn't find him that day. But okay, we'll get to Igor. We're gonna get to Igor, that will be the lion's share of this episode. So, Dark Universe. So when you walk into that portal, so above each portal it says like a little turn of phrase. This one says, it's alive, it's alive. And Michelle and I had a really fun time trying to deliver that as many different ways as we could. Like, it's alive. It's alive, it's alive. It's alive? It's alive! It's alive. Don't you know? Don't you know? So that's you know, this is why our friendship is fun. Because we do that. So um, this dark universe is the home of uh a home to classic universal monsters. Um now some of you may ask yourself, are these movies relevant? And to a lot of people they are. No, they sure are not. Pop culture as a whole, I think what they were planning was you remember those movies they made, like they made the mummy with Tom Cruise, and they were gonna be another. I don't no no no.

I remember the mummy with Brendan Fraser. I do not remember any other mummy. I don't remember any mummy before, and I don't remember any mummy after. There is only the Brent there is only there is only the Brendan Fraser version. That's why there's a whole ride called The Mummy. There's two with Brendan, even my cat's upset because with Brendan Fraser, like he is national treasure.

Oh, Angel Baby. Yes, truly. Love him. He's delightful, but yes, so it's allegedly there was a movie with Tom Cruise called The Mummy. And uh, you know, show me proof. You know, there is none, it's just in legend.

No one's ever seen it. Who who out there is like who out there is like, you know what my favorite movie is? The mummy? And everyone's like, yeah, I love the mummy, Rachel Weiss, let's go. They're like, no, no. The one with Nick Miller.

So they did this whole announcement, like, I swear it was like 10 years ago, that they were gonna do their whole, you know, dark, you know, they wanted to get that Marvel money, so like we're gonna have our whole Dark, and I think it was literally called Dark Universe, and Johnny Depp was gonna be the invisible man, and Angelaine Jolie was gonna be the bride, I think. You know, big big stars, big stars attached. And then the mummy came out allegedly and it didn't do well, and uh it got canceled.

Um, so I'm guessing this started when they thought that was gonna be a thing, and then they continued it because um Horror Nights does so well in like Halloween events, so I think this was like their answer to that, and that people like spooky things. I don't know. I'm just speculating. So yeah.

Because people do like The Bride of Frankenstein and and Frankenstein. I think they should do a young Frankenstein show. Put it on the writs. Like, I think they should the animatronic is pretty, pretty young with his leather pants.

Anyway, we'll get to that. Yes. Uh so when you go to Dark Universe, you're in the town of Darkmoor, and um, there's a sign that says Darkmoor, in case you don't know. And um, so when you first walk in, you walk into a graveyard, and on the left there is a crypt, and if you listen, you can hear like Igor talking to somebody, probably himself, and like walking around the catacombs. Then on the right is a graveyard um with a really tall, tall, dark, and handsome skeleton statue in a death robe. I don't know how you like a monk robe.

I would call it his evening wear when he's like, I Janet, what a day. I killed so many people. Like, I'm sorry, Harry. Put this on. Puts on his robe and he's like, Oh, finally, I can't wait to put my feet up. Oh, honey, let me get you this meatloaf. He's like, You know what I like, baby. And then they kiss. And then they sleep in separate beds. A la Lucy and Ricky. Very respectfully.

Oh, yes. Good, good taste, Michelle. Good taste. Uh, so in this graveyard, they have a statue of a little girl, and there's a single red flower in front of her, and that's the little girl from the movie Frankenstein that the monster throws into the lake, and spoilers, she drowns. Um This movie is almost a hundred years old. Like Oh my gosh. Okay. I don't remember her. I definitely Oh, yes, I do. Okay, yes, just kidding. Uh, and then I like so there was one night Michelle wanted to watch the light show, and I just really wanted to go to Dark Universe again. So I walked around like right before closing by myself. So I was looking at all the tombstones. They have like um, what do you call it? The thing that you get buried in, a coffee. Mausoleum? Yes, mausoleum. They have a coffin you can take pictures in, and Michelle and I, of course, took Mary Kate and Ashley style pictures. Uh, then you keep walking, and then you're in the village of Darkmore, which I think is supposed to be Germany because there's German and there's also some.

Little town full of lots of zombies and of umpire. And then they all pop out and they're like, ah, ah, ah, ah, then they do jazz hands.

So I think it's German because also on the left they say burgermeister, burgermaster, or whatever, which is German for Burgermeistermeister burger. Yeah, the Burgermeister. And that's the stage where um a violinist plays sometimes. There's a very beautiful fountain, and as we know, I love a good water feature. Um, and in it, written in Latin, is something like so okay, the point of the like the town, at one point they're like it was overrun by vampires, and then the humans fought them and the humans won, but then Dracula got mad at the vampires and like killed them all, and that goes to one of the restaurants. But then, like, the vampires are still secretly running things, so it says in Latin on the um the fountain, like you you live by our will alone, or something like that. Something spooky.

I just imagine like so. There's a big battle, and Dracula comes into like a meeting room. He's like, I'm not happy. I'm not happy. First of all, none of you take off all of your shoes. Everyone's shoes, Argyle socks. Get you've lost your rights to socks and shoes. Number one. Number two, the humans one, they eat Burger King. What are you doing? And they're like, I'm sorry, Bob. The phone came out. He's like, put on some cell block and suck it up. Come on. We got people to kill, we got things to see. I've got a lot. I've got look at my look at my outlook. When can we sink? This there's a lot going on. My secretary Janice just quit. I've just got a lot. Oh, I just have a lot going on right now. Okay, can we sync up after this? Because this was this is not on my vision board, losing to Burger King eating humans.

Yes, exactly how it went. And um on the left, there's a few stores um inside, and then there's also like a little meet and greet spot for um Frankenstein's Monster and the Bride. Uh, then there's like a loop in the back, and then as you go around the loop, there is it's you know, it's all like spooky and foresty. There's Igor's cart, which is okay, if you want to see Igor, uh Igor's cart or um the graveyard are usually the two best spots. Uh, then you keep going, it's the best ride ever built, um, the curse of the werewolf. Oh man. I'm being sarcastic.

I'm about to be sarcastic. Oh man, it's so good. I loved it. I can't wait to go back to Epic Universe and ride the Curse of the Werewolf with such good animatronics.

Yeah. Especially the last one. So good. Then you keep going and you see the Burning Blade Tavern, which has that, it's um, you know, in the movie Frankenstein. I don't know if you've, you know, you viewers have watched it, but there's a scene with um a windmill that catches on fire, they recreate that. Uh, and then you keep going, and then there's another restaurant or like a little food place we didn't eat at, and there's a dog relief station somewhere, and it's labeled, and it's just like, oh, I guess in Darkmoor they have dog relief stations. Um, and then then you hit the the main ride, um, the Monsters Unchained ride, also known as Monsters University. Monsters Unchained! Pew, boo, boo, boo, pew, boo. Uh, the land is very beautiful. I mean, I would say like Burke is better overall, but I think like this this land has the best, like the most clear tone to me, and the most clear vibe. Okay. Yeah. Like it's just yeah. Like if it was a storytelling, like this is very clear. Not the ride, obviously, we're gonna get into that, but like the the town, like you, you, this is familiar, but it's different. Yeah, you know where you are. You know you're in Spookyville. Yes, you know something's off.

Yeah. I liked I'm not a monster person, but uh obviously. But uh it was I really liked it for what it was. Um, my favorite part probably was the Igor and Dr.

Jack. Oh, Dr. We can't forget Dr. Jack. Dr. Jack! Who knew the way to my heart was just by being mean to me. Yes. So can we talk about entertainment? Yes, okay, we're almost there. So my last fact about the land is Danny Elfman composed the score for the land, which we found out because we overhear heard some like manager people talking about it. So NBC Universal Kmart executives were doing a tour from the Shineheart Wig Company. Okay, so now let's get into walk-around characters. So, um, Epic Universe, one of the best things overall is the walk-around characters. The best part, the best walk around characters, in my opinion, are in Dark Universe because they're sassy.

Okay, yes, okay. I will be, I think because they have so much more freedom because there's like there's no Igor movie. There's not like I'm Igor, you know, you you're right. They do have far, far more freedom. And I'm never gonna watch the Invisible Man. I don't know if Dr. Jack was acting within his character or not. I have no idea. So And they're kind of supposed to be jerks, so like you know, mission accomplished as much as I did love Gobber and uh and uh you know uh what's his name? Jake Peralta. Hiccup the hiccup, you know, it was really good. Yeah. So but yeah, I think you're I think you're right, only because they have more freedom to be or not to be.

You know them the least, like they're the most original. Well, I guess um Wizarding World has more original characters, but they're like But they wouldn't talk to us. No, they were avoiding us, they're like, no.

Yeah, I was like I know side note, I was like all dressed up in my Hufflepuff uniform, and I had on my little beret, and I had a cute little cape on, and I had a brand new wand, and I was like, oh, this is gonna be so fun. I'm gonna get to talk to them about like the Fantastic Beasts, because I do love that first movie. I want to be very specific when I talk about Fantastic Beasts. I love that first movie. Then the series goes off a cliff in a burning school bus. I don't I don't know. Um but I was really sad that we didn't get any interactions with uh with the people. Because I think the we didn't get any interactions with in Mario Land either, but that's because um Mario and Luigi speak Italian.

Yeah, and they're very quiet, gentlemen. Quiet. Yes. And toad is just like I did a good toad impression earlier, and I'm worried I'm gonna blow out the mic if I do it again.

Okay, so a salute to all theme park characters, but really only Igor. So we go in. I told Michelle, I'm like, look, I I you know, I have a thing with talking with people. I don't know why. That's an issue I need to work on, but I need you to like start the conversation with this theme park character who is paid to talk to me. Um, so she goes in, she starts talking to Igor, and um both times we encountered Igor, um, well, we encountered him three or four. I encountered him four times, three times, but the two main ones were the same, Igor. Spoilers, different people play Igor. Um Yeah, what? I know. Um, my favorite Igor is the one we got to interact with, which is the one I call like the gross in quotes Igor, because he like picks his teeth with the foot. He has a fake foot he carries around. Um, so the Igor stick is he has like a bag full of body parts and he's collecting body parts from the grave and um from the various graves, and he's just like some like there's a sassy Igor. There's like um the Igor that's kind of like flirty, and then there's this is the one who's like the gross, and I think he's he's my favorite because he's nice, but he's Igor. Because sometimes the sassy ones like you try to talk to them like Dr. Jack and like Griffin, the invisible band, and they're just like it's a little harder. Like, I just I need niceness, but also be a little bean to me.

And Igor met that he was like order up, he's like niceness with a little meme, say less.

Done and done. So the first time you didn't do the impression of him, right? You just were, I think we were just talking, we were making fun of Dale to the point where Igor commented on it.

So if my husband is um see-through, he's so pale that we call him a ghost American. So, you know, like on job forums, it's like, what's your ethnicity? Like, and then it's like other, and he writes in like ghost American, like I'm see-through. Uh and so we uh told him that it must be scary for most people to see a ghost in the graveyard, i.e. Dale, and then he but for Igor, it must be fine, and then something, something, something, giggle, giggle.

Ig I think Igor said something like, Oh, you know, during the day he can't walk around, but at night he's like a flashlight and he glows. You just go to him.

He was at one point, like I just kind of blanked out. I know you were talking to him and you guys were laughing, and I just remember he like said something like, Can you believe this girl? And like at one point, he like leaned on my shoulder. Okay, so I'm 5'8, which is tall, but it's not like huge tall. Like I couldn't join a tall person club. So Igor is very um the character is a petite character, so when he was leaning on my arm, I had to lean to the side so he could reach my shoulder. So yeah, and I was wearing tennis shoes, so just you know, keep that in mind. He was tiny and adorable.

I was like, little baby in my arms. Let me kiss you. I remember I said Mary Kate and Ashley to him, and he said who? And I said, Oh, they're in dark California. Um, he was very amused by us. He was like the best yes and partner. Yeah. Um, at one point he was telling you, I don't know if this is the first interaction or the second, he was like, You were doing your Igor impression, and he kept telling you, like, ground your character.

We were you roll your R's too much. Igor speaks, he's like, Oh, is that your monster? Oh, that's very cool. Yeah.

I run around dark more, I think in the bones, and then I eat them and I bring them to Doctor Victoria. And I say, Oh, beautiful, Doctor, I love you. You're very pretty.

But this the second interaction, Michelle was like, I'm gonna do an impression of you, and then she did that, and he just kept looking at me and he's like, Is she always like this? I'm like, 100% of the time, yes.

And then he got really into it, and I remember he's like, ground your character, you're rolling your R's too much. But he said this like all as Igor. Um, and just like he was very, and I think he stood next to me again, and I I think the first interaction you were telling him how much I love him, and so he like the jig was up. He knew how much I was in love with him. But yeah, it was just so delightful. And then another time at night we came back and it was a different Igor, and we tried to talk to him, and he was talking about his sexy scarf, and then he just walked, he's like, bye now, and he walked away. He was like, I am done, goodbye. It's like my mom, mom when she talks to you, like, okay, I'm done now. Bye. Yes, you have you have pleased me, you may move on. Okay, thank you. Uh, and then another time when I came in by myself that one night, I saw another Igor. Um, oh, that's your cat. Um, there's also I heard the joke that the Igor's like, because it's okay. So it's different actors, but they all are physically similar, but like they range in age a lot. So someone's like, Igor's either like 20 or 65, like they're and then like all the ages in between. Um, so he wears a black wig that's kind of shaggy, these like giant glasses you can't see through, like reflective um goggles. He wears a fake nose. Yeah, any other thoughts on Igor? And like I went and I looked at all this stuff. I stood, I because I watched so many Igor videos, I stood in all the places waiting for him. I'm like, we're gonna fall in love and we're gonna get married in Darkmoor, and then I'm just gonna live here, I guess. I'm gonna live in Darkmoor, and this is my home now. Um, you know, Jasmine and Igor, we're gonna live in Dr. Victoria's Castle. J plus Y equals love equals us.

Um, but yeah, just if you have a chance to meet Igor, it was like the best you were saying, like it was some of the best yes anding. Because you and I have taken improv classes. You've taken a lot more than I did. I took it more as a kid. Um, and what that's like why we banter so well together. But it was like so nice interacting with someone who like really knows how to improv well and does it professionally.

He's one of the he's like a cat. He is you can't you don't cue and like you don't cue and like can't wait to meet him and say crazy things. It's more like he'll come see you, he'll pick you, and then um and magic potentially will ensue. The the thing is is like it's human interaction. So like be nice and don't expect anything and then Yeah and just be nice and play along and have a great time. Yeah, like that's fun for everyone.

Yeah. One e-girl like doesn't take pictures with most people. Like ours, I don't know. Like you asked what you did. We felt really cool because we didn't record either interaction. We just took pictures with him one time and we just were like, we have this memory in our hearts, and I feel like that impressed him, but not really. But in my head it did. Also, your cat's eating your finger.

Um, so literally, um, we were planning on doing a trip just to Epic Universe in the future. I would spend the whole like days just hunting Igor and just talking to all the Igors. Like, it's just so fun. I would spend days everywhere except for the steakhouse. Yes. Well, we'll get to the steakhouse. Um, and also Igor said he remembered us, but I don't believe him. I do believe him. No, he's like, you're like, oh, we stuck came in yesterday. He's like, yes, right. And I'm like, no, I don't believe that.

He was just standing like in his Juliet balcony, um, and he like has a rat like he's dressed like very 1930s, like a little smoking jacket. He has bandages around his face. We did make the joke of like, where's the invisible man? We can't see him. He did not think that was funny. Nope. Um, he was a very grumpy character. I don't know if the actor was particularly grumpy or just like that's the character. Because sometimes they see them and they're really flirty with the girls. Like they do the like the neck thing and like, you know, sorry, I did a choking motion um for pictures. I'm like, oh, you you cannot do that casually, sir, to that lady. She is gonna faint. Um, but yeah, our one was, and then we went to the bathroom, and the bathrooms are have black toilets. Michelle came back and said, Dr. Jack, I wash my hands. And he said, What do you say? I doubt it.

He says, I don't believe you. Well, first, I asked him. I said, Dr. Jack, Dr. I called him Dr. Jack because I've what's his last name? Griffin. I called him Dr. Jack. So I kept saying I kept being a goofball. And I said, Dr. Jack, Dr. Jack, where's the bathroom? I gotta go bathroom. Uh, which is uh a quote from Annie. Yes. He had to go to the bathroom. Um I said, I have to go bathroom. He goes, uh, do I look like a valet? I do not know. So we went to the bathroom with the black toilets and then came back out and I washed my hands and I went back to Dr. Jack. I said, Dr. Jack, Dr. Jack, I washed my hands. Look.

And he goes, I don't believe you. I I got another one of those, like, can you believe this girl? from him too. And I'm like, I know. I'm like, she's the best. Don't make fun of her. Thank you.

I and like I said, I I guess the good news and the bad news is that um well, the bad news is he's not eager, but the good news is I couldn't tell you if he was in or out of character, right? Yeah. Like, well, I don't know. I don't know. Yeah. He was giving like sassy Jafar energy.

I'm like, Igor, that's your genius. Very funny. It's literally like I cannot express they should have just not had it.

So the whole theme of this, okay, I'm gonna read you the description, and then we're gonna talk about what our confusion was with the story.

So taking place in the modern era, Monsters Unchained introduces guests to Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, the great-great-granddaughter of Henry Frankenstein. And there's a very sexy portrait of Henry in the castle. Uh having taken over Henry's estate, she has continued his work and has spent years working towards harnessing the power to control the monsters that reside in Darkmoor, attempting to remove the smeared legacy of the Frankenstein family name. After finally finding the answers to her quote, masterpiece experiment, Victoria has invited guests to witness her taking Count Dracula under her control by welcoming them to into Frankenstein Manor and the catacombs beneath Darkmoor. Victoria has assembled together various creatures for experimentation, including Frankenstein's monster and Count Dracula, but they break free and terrorize the brave volunteers inside the catacombs underneath. Okay. So I get the story is that Victoria wants to clear the Frankenstein family name, so she does it by capturing all these monsters and keeping the people of Darkmoor safe.

And the thing I came up with is that Dr. Victoria is in love with me and she's trying to show off her project, and then oh my gosh, the monsters captured the girl I'm in love with, and then chaos, and that also Igor is in love with me, and then he has to save us. I mean, yeah, that works. Yeah.

And to give you an idea of how big they were, this it weighs 800 pounds and is nine feet tall, and most of them are around that size. Okay, so let's take you through the experience of the ride. So the castle is beautiful on the outside, and every time we went in, we were joking, like, we're here in our Airbnb. Oh, I wonder if I'm gonna give it a high rating. We'll see. I hope nothing bad happens. So when you walk in, you get in line, immediately there's like a wall, and there's like lightning. So the lightning's striking the outside of the um the castle, which I had a really hard time recording that on my phone. It would not show up. So, first you go to the wall and the lightning's striking, and it says who's the real monster, and then it disappears. So I guess that's the the theme. That's why we're there. I don't know. So if someone can tell me why we're there, I will give you a prize.

Uh, then you go into a room where they're showing the line was always really short, so we didn't spend too much time in any room, where they're showing like movies that Victoria took of her capturing the monsters. I only know that because I heard that, like we didn't even see that because we went through those rooms so fast, and then I think that's the room with the Amazon boxes that I'm like, oh, this is modern time. So in the middle are two bigger seats, and the ends are the smaller seats.

And then at this point, you get like flung over to the side and you see one of the brides attacking Frankenstein, and it's cool because it's off the ground quite a bit. Like everything most everything's off the ground. Um, and then you go, you go on your back again and you see Victoria fighting one of the um ladies, brides, the brides, and then Igor's like says something like, 'They're attacking us, even the ugly ugly one.' And she has a cool like lightning crossbow. Yeah. That she uses throughout the thing that she, I guess it captures the monsters. I don't know. The brides are in the whole thing, though. Like it's basically they spent all their money on the brides. They went all in on the brides.

There were several times on the ride because I knew it was coming. The ride is not scary, and I'm the biggest chicken in the world, and it's not scary. It's a little spooky, it's not scary. Like there's parts of Harry Potter that are scarier to me, like the Dementors.

This ride is very much because um I recently saw it in the light, and it's very much like if you're not facing that direction, there is nothing. They they did not set dress it at all. The best animatronics I've ever seen, though.

Then the very end you're on your back again, and um, I think Dracula either says, You will die for me or you can't hide from me, and he jumps on top of you and then gets like the sun hits him, and then he um Or Harriet the spy for me.

So it's very spooky. It is not appetizing at all. But the food was good, but like the atmosphere is not appetizing. Yeah, the chairs have bats on top, and we kept going bats but um they have freestyle soda machines which really go with the theme, which some places didn't have it, and I'm so I'm happy they had it, even though it didn't match.

We also heard some people talking about arrested development, and we jumped in um and they did not know the show as well as we did.

I love Pokemon be because uh in my youth, I used to be obsessed with I can't like something unless I've seen every episode and every blah blah blah. And now at the end of my life, I can like I named our dog, we named our dog Evie after the Pokemon 133. I love I just love them. I think they're so cute. It's so fun. I love Pokemon Go. Like I'm I'm still playing. Um I think Pokemon is very accessible because all it is, it's literally like adopting a dog or a cat. It's just having like a Pokemon center would be cool. Oh, you know what would be really now. I'm just armchair imagineering. But Fast and Furious Land. No, absolutely not. Stop that. You take that back. You take you you take that out of your dirty mouth. I think that there should be a poker center in both city walks. I think that would be so cool. And I think that and a like a poke a Pokemon cafe, that would be so cool. Oh, yeah.
